Just talked to my mom. Found out that my Aunt Janice is in the hospital in ICU.
They just got back from a trip to mexico where she started not feeling well. When they got home she went to the ER and they took her straight into the ICU.
My grandma said that they had to shock her with the paddles yesterday 48 times. That seems awfully high (and I'm surprised they'd do it for that long) but my grandma generallt isn't prone to exageration unless it involves her (for her it would have been 75 times).
Anyway, apparently she's not doing well at all. I asked my mom to keep me updated, but damn. :(

Other than "my sister's keeper," can anyone recommend another Jodi Picoult book?
And, he's not gonna see this cause he's never on LJ, but:
HAPPY BIRFDAY NICHORUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to those of you that offered to help me/my mom out. I super duper appreciate the offers =) I'm going to swing by the store at lunch and wester union her some money and we should be good to go. Money'll be slightly tighter for Nick and I for the next 2 weeks but we've been MUCH MUCH worse off in the past (like when we had no money and no food and we would were going to festivals and things to hit up free food samples just to eat. Thank god that happened in the summer when festivals were going on, lol). And, I ROCK at shopping for groceries and spending very little while doing it. I'm the baby of 7 and I know how to shop/eat cheap!
It's so gloomy here today. For the first 2 hours this morning if I looked out the window I could have believed it was 6 at night. It's lightened up just a tad bit, but not much.
I'm SOOOOO tired. Gaelic Storm took the stage about 8:15 last night and played for about an hour. Then, they took a 20 minute break and came back and played until 10:30. Then they left the stage for 5 minutes while the crowd shouted "encore!" and they came back out and played for another 20 minutes. By the time they finished, we left and hit up la bambas and got home, David Letterman was on. That was cool, though, cause it was the re-run episode with Joaquin Phoenix that I missed and terribly wanted to see because he was a whack job.
Today is going to suck at work. Boss man is traveling next week and will be doing some speaking engagement things and he realized yesterday that he hadn't even begun on his powerpoints. That translates to Jeanette not beginning the powerpoints cause he just tells me what he wants and I have to create them. Of course, there are 2 of them and each one has about 20-25 slides each. It's gonna be a loooooooooooooooooong day. I just finished the first one and emailed it back to him. And I'm about to start the next one. Of course, while I'm working on this one, he'll email me back about the first one and tell me all the stuff he wants changed that he didn't mention in his original instructions. And we'll go back and forth all day long until it's finished.
My workload here has doubled in the last 2 weeks and it's not going to change because the extra part-time assistant he was going to hire to help out? Yeah, he's changed his mind and has determined that I can do all that stuff, too.
Anyhoo...I better get back to these powerpoints. =(

I haven't had a chance to post this yet. We had some computer stuff done at work and now I'm not allowed to upload anything onto photobucket from my computer at work. I've been slow on getting this up here, but since I've got nothing but time today, I can post it now.
This is a Viking Hat I made for a friend of mine, Robert. He's Swedish (though he lives here now), so for his birthday I found it appropriate.
For basic shape, I just followed a regular old hat pattern. I changed up the stitches here and there and added ear flaps and the horns. The horns, I think, could be better but I had to free hand it as I didn't have a pattern for viking horns just laying around, lol.
( VIKINGS! )

The reason I hate calling in sick?
Coming in to work the following day to find a stack of "to-do" items 50 miles high.

Brett,
I know you left the game early yesterday due to hurting your shoulder and elbow. I'm sorry you guys lost.
But, I still love you and I want you to get better. I'd hate to see your starting streak broken (as I'm sure you would, too).
If you need anything, call me.
Much love,
Jeanette

Janie put in a vacation day request for the Friday that I'll be in Cali for my reunion. We've been waiting patiently for our other siste, Diane (janie's boss) to approve it.
Janie got it approved today.
We're going to Knott's Berry Farm! I'm so excited!
We get to visit all of our old shop owner friends and everything.
And funnel cakes. YUMMY YUMMY funnel cakes!!!!

Tony Bennett was PHENOMENAL!!!
I sat there so awed by him, I could barely contain myself. Hell, I cried. And dammit, I’m not ashamed. This man, this musical legend was standing on a stage not 50 feet from me. He’s 81 years old, but he was vivacious and spunky and he sang his heart out. He danced and smiled and belted out so many classics.
He sang some that I wasn’t familiar with, of course, but I’ve only been around for 28 years of his career, lol. But, he sang so many classics like “Sing, you sinners,” “The best is yet to come,” “Who could ask for anything more,” “I left my heart in San Francisco,” “fly me to the moon,” and “for once in my life.”
He also sang, “The way you look tonight,” which is the song that Nick and I danced our first dance to at our wedding. The night nick proposed I had a mixed CD playing in my car on the way to the zoo and that song was on it. During the little musical interludes when the piano keys would hit, “dink, dink” Nick would sing, “bling, bling,” referring to the ring that I didn’t know was in his pocket. When it came time to dance at the wedding, that song made sense since we have a connection to it. It may seem cliché, but we weren’t copying My best friend’s wedding, lol. Anyway, I really didn’t expect him to sing that song because he’s never actually recorded it for any of his own albums. It’s only on the soundtrack for My best friend’s wedding. But he sang it, and it was beautiful, and amazing.
At one point, he asked that the microphones be turned off and he belted out this song so loudly that the entire theatre could hear him without the help of any technology. And it sounded amazing. I can’t get over the fact that the man is 81 years old.
All in all, it was a truly magical night. He told some funny stories in between songs and it’s amazing when only hearing a snippet of this man’s life how fascinating his life really has been. I’m still in awe that I was there last night, that I saw Tony Bennett live in concert. Someone pinch me, please!

My husband is so uber awesome.
I've just received by delivery, a beautiful bouquet of pink, white, yello and purple daisies from Nick.
The card is signed, "The way you look tonight, Nicholas."
We're going to see Tony Bennett tonight in concert.
I've wanted to see Tony for as long as I can remember. And I'm going tonight. It's going to be so romantic, and I'm going with the most romantic person I know.
I'm so excited.
I act like a tough chick, but I'm a huge in-the-closet romantic. Nick knows this and he knows exactly how to bring the "Squee" out in me.
Love you, sweetheart!

wtf?
It's only been 3 months (well, we're just shy of 3 months by 3 days, so that's close enough) since the wedding and it's about time I get some wedding pictures up on this darned site. These aren't necessarily in any order, but I'll narrate through as much as I can...

While driving through small-town Ohio on Saturday I saw a pretty cool sign on a church marquee. It read:
"More marriages would last if those who said 'I Do,' did."
Ain't dat the troof.
